Mel Brooks took his hit film from 1968 and, in 2001, turned it into an even greater hit musical. It tell the story of Max Bialystock, a once successful Broadway producer, who has just seen his latest production flop on opening night. His fortunes change when he meets downtrodden accountant, Leo Bloom, who explains, hypothetically, that there is money to be made out of flop.  The Producers is an outrageous farce full of toe tapping songs that follows Bialystock & Bloom and their attempt to put on the greatest failure in history of Broadway.
